Introducing TKO Photography!

Introducing TKO Photography!

After much thought and consideration – not to mention a kick ass domain name being available – I have decided to split pixelens photography & design into two entities. I’d like to introduce TKO Photography+: sports photography + design + marketing. (more…)

New site look and features…

If you are a returning visitor, then you’ll have noticed I’ve changed up the look and feel behind my site. I didn’t mind the old look, however it was a bit too “bloggy” looking. (more…)

Fighting for 10th!

Fighting for 10th!

As most of you have probably heard, I’ve entered the Globe & Mail contest to try and win a chance to be a guest photographer at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Thanks to all your support I’m VERY close to reaching the top ten, roughly 20 votes away at the time of this writing. I’d like to thank you all for your past support and ask for your continued support over the next few days as the last day to vote is November 22nd. You do have to register, you do have to have a Canadian address, but each time you vote you also get a chance to win a laptop/dslr prize package from the Globe and Mail.

Globe and Mail Contest

Globe and Mail Contest

The Globe and Mail has a contest and the prize is for one writer and one photographer to be “guest journalists” for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. As some of you know, I’ve been delving into the realm of sports photography and this contest/opportunity is really exciting. I need to post 5 images (which I will be doing later tonite I hope) and I’d like to ask your help to pick the BEST 5 images below. Send me an email at jbouwmeester at gmail dot com (or via Twitter – @pixelens, or Facebook if a FB friend, or leave a reply in the comments section below) with the numbers of your picks. Alternately if you have an image in mind from my Flickr stream, feel free to include that number – the 5D###### should be a tag on the Flickr page.

.new look

If you’ve been here before, you’ll notice a fresh and exciting new look for pixelens.com! If not – welcome to the site!

Although we’ve been using WordPress for the site for a couple years now, we’ve never really been happy with the out of the box themes and often end up customizing one to work for us. Recently we came across the great AutoFocus theme developed by Allan Cole and knew we’d hit the jackpot. Of course, as always, we’ve tailored the theme to suit our needs and with that present the new look for the site.

Many factors weighed in on the decision to redesign the site. We were looking for something cleaner, easy on the eyes, and of course would display and focus on the images themselves. As well, this new theme will force posts with images, and we’re hoping entice us to post more often. With that in mind, stay tuned for better, meatier posts – both of recent work and also tips, tricks and techniques to assist you with your photographic growth.

pixelens photography is currently focusing on wedding, maternity and concert photography, if you have an event planned feel free to contact us for a custom quote based on your specific needs. In addition to successful bands or groups, we are interested in up and comers and all venues – give us a shout if you are in the area and require a photographer. As always, we’re up for any type of photography shoot so don’t let our current focus discourage you from contacting us if you require photographic services.

Let us know what you think of the new look – and of course any issues you may encounter!

.updated

Those of you who have visited the blog before should notice a new entrance page to the site now. I’ve signed up with Smugmug to display photos for clients and sell prints and digital copies of my images and thus needed an easy access point to that and my blog from the site. I’m interested in knowing what you think, have a few minor tweaks left to perform but for the most part I’m pleased with how smooth it all seems to fit together.

Portfolio Updated!

Just a FYI, updated the images on the portfolio page.

As always, you can view the rest of my portfolio and images over at Flickr.
